Walking in Granada
On saturday we set off for a sleeply little village a few hours drive from home, tucked away in the Costa Tropic. After setting off on saturday morning we arrived in the village of Pampaniera and started looking for the guide book that was supposed to be guiding us through the country. We’d forgotten it. Plan b: Ask the hostel owners for a couple of local walks, they showed us some leaflets and we managed to workout what we thought was the route. The first part of the route involved following the route backwards…. have you ever tried to follow directions backwards? It just doesn’t work!None of the land marks are the same. We did finally complete the route with only a couple of minor disagreements on the route, at one point we seemed to be getting closer to our starting point and further away from our destination.
The highlight of the day was the Bodega we found in Capileira. A late start to the day, and then getting lost in the hills meant that our “lunch” was at about 5pm… tired and hungry we would have settled for anything to eat. When we ordered our racion of mixed meat and a racion of the house tomato plate we didn’t realise just how good it was going to be. For the next hour all you could hear was the sounds of 5 very happy people with a cold refreshing beer in one hand and the best tomato salad we’ve ever tasted in the other.

I too got lost in Granada. It’s not the easiest place to find your way around! But it is a beautiful place with awesome food so that kinda makes up for it!

[...] Its unusual for me to travel anywhere within Spain, we used to visit local areas while I was here on university holidays, but when I started working it became a bit more difficult to find the time. Working in the week and trying to setup my own freelance business at the weekends didn’t leave that many clear days. Thanks to Gary H (some of my readers know who I mean) I suddenly found myself out of a job last year, thats a story for another post, but the point is I started working from home and have never looked back. Now that I have just the one job, its far easier for me to take a weekend off and go travelling. So thats what we did last weekend. Here is my post about our trip to Granada. [...]
